October Launch Preview: CLM and CaaS for 47-Day SSL Certificates
Racent previews its October 2025 Beijing launch of sslTrus CLM and CaaS, alongside Sectigo SCM and CaaS, to help automate shorter-lived certificates.
Are you ready for the move to 47-day SSL certificates?
In April 2025, the CA/Browser Forum approved ballot SC-081v3. It set out a phased reduction in the maximum validity of newly issued publicly trusted TLS certificates, beginning in 2026 and reaching 47 days in 2029:
- Before March 15, 2026: 398 days.
- From March 15, 2026 through March 14, 2027: 200 days.
- From March 15, 2027 through March 14, 2029: 100 days.
- From March 15, 2029: 47 days.
For enterprises, this change creates several operational challenges:
- More frequent renewals: Instead of roughly annual renewal, teams must prepare for much shorter cycles. Depending on their renewal safety margin, an organization may choose to renew monthly; a monthly schedule is not itself a rule imposed by the 47-day maximum.
- More opportunities for errors and outages: When applications, installation and configuration depend on manual work, frequent renewals increase the number of operations that can go wrong. Expired certificates and configuration mistakes can interrupt services.
How can businesses manage shorter lifetimes without multiplying routine work, configuration errors and service-disruption risks?
Two approaches, matched to different certificate environments
Drawing on its cybersecurity services experience, Shanghai Ruicheng Information Technology Co., Ltd. (Racent) introduced two sslTrus approaches to automating SSL certificate operations.
1. sslTrus CLM for larger or more complex environments
- Who it is for: Medium-sized and large organizations, or complex environments spanning multiple CAs, hybrid and private clouds, WAFs, Kubernetes and privately operated CAs.
- What it does: sslTrus CLM automates certificate lifecycle operations, including renewal, distribution, deployment, discovery, monitoring and alerts. Centralizing these tasks helps improve management efficiency and reduce operational risk.
sslTrus CLM focuses on compatibility with China’s domestic IT and cloud ecosystem, while Sectigo SCM offers integrations with widely used international cloud platforms for globally distributed deployments. The right choice depends on the systems and integrations an organization actually needs.
2. sslTrus CaaS for smaller teams and lighter requirements
- Who it is for: Small and medium-sized businesses with fewer certificates or a preference for simpler operations.
- What it does: sslTrus CaaS, or Certificate as a Service, adds a subscription service to certificate supply, bringing together automated reissuance, deployment and monitoring. Integrations with multiple CAs support certificate management across a multi-year service subscription. A multi-year subscription does not extend an individual certificate beyond the applicable maximum validity; certificates must still be reissued or renewed as required.

Scheduled for launch in October 2025
At the time of this August 2025 announcement, Racent planned an October launch event for sslTrus CLM and sslTrus CaaS in Beijing, alongside its partner Sectigo’s SCM and CaaS offerings.
1. Certificate lifecycle platforms: sslTrus CLM and Sectigo SCM
The event was set to introduce two certificate automation platforms: sslTrus CLM with support for the clmBot automation approach, and Sectigo SCM using ACME. Learn about the clmBot component and its role in the linked Chinese-language introduction.
2. Subscription services: sslTrus CaaS and Sectigo CaaS
The announced CaaS services were intended to help smaller businesses prepare for 47-day certificates, with sslTrus CaaS using clmBot-based automation and Sectigo CaaS using ACME.
Early information and launch offers
The original announcement invited organizations to contact the team for advance information about CLM, CaaS and the upcoming event. It also advertised early-bird discounts associated with that launch. Those were October 2025 launch offers, not a statement of current pricing or availability.
The event was planned for Beijing, with participation details, the date and the agenda to be announced in September 2025. Racent invited businesses to explore a more efficient approach to certificate management together.
